Britt Smith has a strong background in the insurance industry, with a focus on casualty and excess casualty divisions. Britt began their career at Travelers in 1989, working as an Account Executive in the Commercial Accounts Marketing Division. Britt then moved to Employers Reinsurance Corporation (ERC) in 1992, where they served as an Underwriter and Assistant Vice President. In 1997, they joined CNA Insurance, holding various roles including Assistant VP, VP - Casualty Branch Manager, Casualty Underwriting Officer, and Regional VP.

In 2003, Britt joined All Risks, Ltd as a Branch Manager and Casualty Broker before moving on to Swiss Re in 2004, where they served as the Facultative Casualty Product Line Manager and later as the Vice President of Casualty Treaty. Britt then joined AXIS Capital in 2007 as a Vice President in the U.S. Excess Casualty Division before transitioning to RSUI Group, Inc. in 2011, where they held the role of Vice President in the Umbrella & Excess Division.

Most recently, Britt has been working at AXIS Capital since 2017. Britt held the position of Senior Vice President in the U.S. Excess Casualty division, and later became the Executive Vice President and Head of U.S. Excess Casualty. Currently, they serve as the Executive Vice President and Head of Wholesale Lower Middle Market. Britt holds professional designations of CPCU, ASLI, ARM, and ARe, demonstrating their expertise in the insurance industry.

Britt Smith completed a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) in Risk Management & Insurance from Georgia State University between 1986 and 1989. Prior to that, from 1984 to 1986, they studied Political Science and Government at The University of Georgia. In terms of additional certifications, Britt Smith obtained the Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) designation in 2000, followed by the Associate in Reinsurance (ARe) in 1996 and the Associate in Risk Management (ARM-P) in 1992, all from The Institutes. In 2020, they obtained the Associate in Surplus Lines Insurance (ASLI) certification. Additionally, Britt Smith has completed various professional development courses, including the WSIA Executive Leadership Summit from the University of Virginia Darden School of Business and courses on leading with a growth mindset and senior leadership tips from LinkedIn.
