Theresa Rizzo, PsyD has a diverse range of work experience in the field of psychology. Theresa started their career as a Psychology Intern at Nassau University Medical Center in 2007. Theresa then worked as a Psychologist at Kaiser Permanente from 2009 to 2011. After that, they joined HealthRIGHT 360 as a Clinical Psychologist and Supervisor in the Intake and Outpatient Program, where they provided assessment, crisis intervention, and trauma-informed treatment for homeless and economically disadvantaged individuals with chronic medical, mental health, and substance abuse issues. In 2010, they also became a part of the Disaster Mental Health Team at the American Red Cross, where they provided psychological first aid, critical incident stress management, and emotional support during disaster relief efforts. In 2013, they started their own practice called Wisdom and Wellness Psychotherapy, where they offered mindfulness-based psychotherapy and yoga to adults and older adolescents, helping them build mindfulness and body awareness for healing and reducing suffering. Their most recent position is as the Administrative Director of Integrated Behavioral Health at Axis Community Health, where they oversee the integration of behavioral health services and previously served as an Integrated Behavioral Health Psychologist. Throughout their career, Theresa Rizzo has showcased their expertise in providing psychological support, delivering interventions, and promoting healing in diverse settings and with various populations.

Theresa Rizzo, PsyD, holds a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology and a Master's Degree in Clinical Psychology from John F. Kennedy University.

With 28 exam rooms and 8 mental health counseling rooms, our new clinic will double our capacity and enable us to serve everyone who needs care. ♦ Our History Axis began in 1972 as a health center for low-income children, and over the years has grown to provide medical care for all ages. We also offer mental health counseling services, outpatient addiction recovery programs, a WIC nutrition program and school and community-based services. We have six sites, and serve more than 14,000 people.
