Ian van Battum

Ian van Battum has over 20 years of work experience in various IT roles. Ian started their career at boo.com as an Internal Network Analyst, where they worked on maintaining and developing the local network and server infrastructure. Ian then moved on to lastminute.com as a Global Systems Administrator, responsible for the setup and maintenance of infrastructure in multiple global offices.

After that, Ian worked at Pizza Hut as a Network Manager, overseeing the management of the internal infrastructure environment. Ian also played a key role in recommending and implementing new network technologies.

Ian then joined P1 Technology Partners as an Infrastructure Architect, where they headed a department and took overall responsibility for client infrastructures and the Service Desk department. Ian also implemented new procedures and best practices for improved efficiency.

At Breakwater IT, Ian worked as a Project Manager, leading technical projects such as VOIP and web development. Ian also created support contract agreements based on ITIL methodology.

Later, Ian worked at Silvertap as an IT Director, where they had sole responsibility for critical production systems. Ian managed a team, handled risk and change management, and led financial and contractual negotiations with international suppliers.

Ian then joined ConstructionSkills as an IS Leader, where they led a team of technicians and analysts and implemented robust processes for Service Management. Ian also handled incident and problem management.

Currently, Ian is working at AXON VIBE as the Head of DevOps. Ian previously held the position of DevOps Engineer at the company.

Ian van Battum attended Bergvliet High School from 1985 to 1990. During this time, they studied subjects such as Math, Science, Biology, Geography, English, and Afrikaans. In addition to their high school education, Ian obtained certifications including the BCS Specialist Certificate in Problem Management from BCS and ITIL v3 IT Service Management from BCS Chartered Institute for IT in 2013.
