Richard Simson has a long and varied work experience in the education sector. Richard started their career as a Lecturer at Glasgow College of Building and Printing in 1995, specializing in Construction and Timber Trades. From there, they joined James Watt College in 2000 as a Senior Lecturer in Construction, eventually becoming the Head of School for Construction. In 2009, they moved to West College Scotland (formerly James Watt College), where they held various managerial roles, including Learning Manager for Engineering and Construction, Development Manager for Wellbeing, and Director of College Operations for North Ayrshire. In 2014, they joined Ayrshire College, initially as a Performance and Planning Manager, and later as the Head of Business Intelligence and Information Systems.
Richard Simson attended the University of Aberdeen from 2009 to 2011, where they earned a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Professional Development - Education. Prior to that, from 2002 to 2003, they studied at the University of Strathclyde and obtained a Certificate in Education Tertiary Education (TQFE) with a focus on Education.
In addition to their formal education, Richard also obtained a certification in Understanding Media by Understanding Google from Coursera in October 2013.
