Richard Hammond

Senior Scientist at A&Z Pharmaceutical

Richard Hammond has over thirty years of work experience in the scientific field. From 1989 to 1997, they worked as a Science Teacher in the Peace Corps, where they taught physical science to four classrooms in French. Between 1997 and 2005, they worked as a Senior Research Scientist at CuraGen Corporation, where they developed Hydrophobic Interaction Chromatography (HIC) method to determine degree of drug conjugation for cancer drug CR011, optimized reversed-phase HPLC method to quantify drug yield of fermentation process for drug CG53135, and optimized reversed-phase HPLC method to determine purity for CuraGen's Phase II drug CG53135. From 2005 to 2016, they worked as a Senior Research Scientist at Forest Laboratories, where they were the analytical leader for Teflaro sterile antibiotic drug product and developed and optimized RP-HPLC methods for the drug substance, drug product and associated related substances. From 2016 to 2017, they worked as a Senior Scientist at Polygen Pharmaceuticals LLC, where they advanced testing methods (Assay, Organic Impurities, Chiral, Residual Solvents, Dissolution) for three drug projects (Darifenacin, Memantine, and Rosuvastatin). Since 2017, they have been working as a Senior Scientist at A&Z Pharmaceutical, Inc., where they design, implements, performs, and reports on method validations for Vitamin D supplements, and six generic drugs (77 reports as of 12/2022). Richard also optimizes test methods (assay and related substances) for Vitamin D & K supplements and six generic drugs.

Richard Hammond received their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Analytical Chemistry from the University of Michigan between 1992 and 1997.
