Ms. Janet M Geddes has been a member of the Board of Supervisors of Azizi Bank since July 2019. She is a highly experienced international finance and insurance professional with extensive experience of change management, restructurings and turnarounds, including as a director on boards and also chair of audit committee of both listed and private companies in several countries. She had also held senior line management positions with Big 4 accounting firms.
With a background in banking and real estate, she has specialized in corporate and regulatory governance, business and financial restructuring, cross-border asset recovery, NPL management and recoveries, contentious insurance cases, export credit insurance/trade finance, business and asset valuations, restructuring of financial institutions, corporate governance, SME lending and recovery, project and infrastructure finance.
Ms. Geddes also has extensive experience on banking in Western and Eastern Europe, as well as in Asia, and in setting up and running Asset Management Corporations (AMCs). Her work has also extended to buying and selling NPL portfolios, valuation of NPL portfolios and assessment of appropriate methodologies for managing and disposing of NPLs.
She has worked in several difficult jurisdictions, including India, Afghanistan, China and Ukraine and most recently has been the International Advisor on a project to assess the needs of the insurance regulator (GDIA) in Kabul, Afghanistan.
Ms. Geddes also has qualifications in corporate governance and regulatory compliance, including capital markets intermediaries, as well as in dispute resolution and asset valuation. She has previous experience as Banking Advisor and Team Leader for the New Kabul Bank as well as Consultant to Lucheng Rural Commercial Bank, Shanxi Province, China. She also has exposure in the Liquidation of loans and other financial assets of the Thailand operations of Lehman Brothers Asia and as an EBRD-funded consultant at Parex Bank, Latvia, with management responsibility for staffing and training, cross-border recoveries, portfolio review and restructuring and recovery of non-performing loans.
