Joost Vlies

Joost Vlies-van der has a diverse work experience spanning over several companies and roles. Joost is currently the Chief Architect at Backbase since 2023. Prior to that, they worked as a Lecturer at Nyenrode Business University where they delivered lectures on Cloud Innovation & Control and was a guest speaker for the MBA Module Digital, Strategy & Transformation. Joost also served as the CTO & Head of Architecture at PostNL from 2017 to 2023. Before that, they held various positions at Hewlett Packard Enterprise, including Strategic IT Adviser on Workload & Cloud, Global Account Chief Technologist, and Technology Consultant. Prior to joining Hewlett Packard Enterprise, Joost worked as an Independent IT Architect and Consultant. Joost also gained experience as a Managing Consultant at Capgemini and as a Consultant at Raet IT Services. Joost has a strong background in IT architecture, cloud computing, service-oriented architectures, and IT strategy.

Joost Vlies, van der has a diverse educational background. Joost completed their Post Graduate studies in Business Administration from Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences in 1999. Prior to that, they obtained a Drs degree in Social Science Informatics from the University of Amsterdam, graduating in 1996. Their educational journey began at NHL Hogeschool, where they studied Software Engineering and received an Ing degree in 1993.
