Alexandra Parran

Marketing Manager at Backstage Library Works

Alexandra Parran has held a variety of roles in the past decade. From 2011-2012, they were a Theater Technician at Gettysburg College, where they constructed and deconstructed sets from staged productions, operated the light board in a main-stage production, and stage managed and assisted the scenic painter. In 2012, they were a Production Intern at Upstage Educational Theatre, where they constructed and deconstructed sets, created props, and operated the light board. From 2013-2015, they were a Book Lead at 2nd & Charles, where they maintained and organized the store to provide superior customer service, assisted customers with purchases and selections, and shelved and created book displays. In 2014, they were an Illustrator at DrawingBoard Printing. From 2015-2016, they were a Lead Book Seller at 2nd & Charles. Alexandra then worked as a Marketing Manager and a Metadata Project Manager at Backstage Library Works from 2016-present. In their role as Metadata Project Manager, they managed a department of catalogers, put together profiles, kept track of project funding and billing, performed quality control, and ran post-production to make sure all MARC records produced were ready for use by the client. Alexandra also specialized production workflows in order to tailor production and final deliverables to the exact needs of clients. Additionally, they cataloged English and foreign language monographs using primarily OCLC Connexion and Voyager, followed project profiles to create original records as per the field-by-field specifications of multiple clients, and performed subject analysis on monographs to assign LC classifications and subject headings.

Alexandra Parran received a Bachelor's Degree in Fine and Studio Arts from Gettysburg College between 2009 and 2013.
