Paul Demers has a diverse work experience spanning over several decades. Paul started their career as a mathematician at Vitro Corporation, where they focused on data analysis and software development for undersea warfare simulations. Later, they worked as a software engineer at Interactive Television Company, conducting research for defense agencies and designing and writing C code on various platforms.

In 1994, Paul joined Tele-TV, a startup in the interactive TV industry, where they were responsible for integrating back-end systems and the video network. Paul also designed a video app demo system using off-the-shelf hardware and software.

In 1996, Paul joined BroadVision, initially as a Technical Director and later as the Director of Platform Architecture. In these roles, they worked on consumer-facing web applications, collaborating with customers to design, architect, develop, and deploy large-scale websites. Paul also managed professional services and wrote detailed specifications.

After spending a sabbatical at home managing major house renovations, Paul joined Serus Corp. as a System Architect. There, they played a leading role in architecting supply chain optimization products for electronics manufacturers.

In 2006, Paul became a Product Manager at Ariba, Inc., where they managed the full lifecycle of the Visibility and Analysis Solutions product. This included gathering and analyzing requirements, monitoring industry trends, and collaborating with engineering teams to design and develop product releases.

Following their time at Ariba, Paul joined Cogency Software in 2008 as the Director of Product Delivery. Paul'srole involved managing software development and delivery teams for an accounting and portfolio management suite targeted at investors with mixed portfolios.

Since 2015, Paul has been working at Backstop Solutions Group as the Director of Engineering. Paul joined the company through the Cogency acquisition. In their current role, they lead teams responsible for developing Backstop's core product, CRM, for institutional investors.

Paul Demers completed their undergraduate education at Boston College from 1980 to 1984, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Math/CS.
