David Roberts

Director Of Plant Breeding at BAILEY NURSERIES, INC

David Roberts has a strong background in plant breeding and horticultural science. David started their work experience in 2012 as a Research Intern at North Carolina State University, where they gained skills in in vitro polyploid induction of woody ornamental species. From 2013 to 2015, they worked as a Research/Teaching Assistant at the university, focusing on horticultural science research and assisting with plant propagation courses. In 2006, they joined the North Carolina Arboretum as an Assistant to Bonsai Curator, where they gained hands-on experience in caring for and maintaining more than 200 Bonsai trees. In 2016, they became a Breeder and General Manager at Plant Introductions, Inc., before moving on to become the Head Plant Breeder and General Manager of Bailey Innovations in 2017. Currently, they hold the role of Director of Plant Breeding at Bailey Nurseries.

David Roberts received their Associate of Science degree in Biology, General from Asheville-Buncombe Technical Community College from 2009 to 2011. David continued their education at North Carolina State University, where they completed their Bachelor of Science degree in Horticultural Science from 2011 to 2013. David further pursued their studies at the same university and earned a Master of Science degree in Horticultural Science with a specialization in Plant Breeding from 2013 to 2015.
