John Connaughton

Co-Managing Partner at Bain Capital

John Connaughton is Co-Managing Partner at Bain Capital, a leading private investment firm with approximately $175 billion in assets under management and the Global Head of Private Equity.

Mr. Connaughton joined Bain Capital in 1989, and has helped lead our investment strategy in healthcare, technology, and media. He currently sits on the board of IQVIA Holdings and previously served on the boards of Air Medical Group Holdings, BPL (Bio Products Laboratory) Holdings, Grupo Notre Dame Intermedica, HCA Healthcare, ProSiebenSat.1, Warner Chilcott plc, Warner Music Group and several others. He also serves as a member of the Boston Celtics’ investor group and Board of Directors.

Prior to Bain Capital, Mr. Connaughton was a consultant at Bain & Company, Inc., where he worked in the healthcare, consumer products and business services industries.

Mr. Connaughton is involved in a variety of charitable organizations, both individually and through the Bain Capital Community Partnership. He serves on the GreenLight Fund Board of Directors, the Harvard Business School Board of Dean's Advisors, the Roxbury Latin School Board of Trustees, and the Berklee College of Music Board of Trustees and the Brigham & Women’s Board of Trustees. Mr. Connaughton also serves on the Board of Directors of the Boston Celtics and is part of the team’s investor group.

Mr. Connaughton, and his wife, Stephanie, are donors and volunteers for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Boston, Courageous Parents Network and Brigham & Women’s Hospital, where he is a member of the Board of Trustees. They also helped establish the Connaughton Alternative Investing Professorship Fund at the McIntire School of Commerce at the University of Virginia, where Mr. Connaughton is a member of the Foundation Board. He also serves on the board of the University of Virginia Investment Management Company (UVIMCO).

Mr. Connaughton received a Bachelor of Science degree in Commerce from the University of Virginia and an MBA from Harvard Business School, where he was a Baker Scholar.
