Scott McLewin

Chief Technology Officer at Balance Innovations

Scott McLewin has extensive work experience in various technology roles. Scott started their career in 1989 at Brand Software as a Senior Software Engineer, where they played a key role in building the company and rewriting its product using Borland C.

In 1994, they joined Knight Ridder Financial as a Programmer/Analyst and later became a Software Engineer, where they ported the Interactive Data Feed (IDF) API to multiple operating systems and implemented interfaces between IDF and Reuters Triarch system.

In 1996, McLewin became a Team Leader at Knight Ridder Financial, leading a team in migrating a client-facing server product to the Bridge delivery network, resulting in cost savings. Scott then became Director of Data Feed Development at Bridge Information Systems, where they built a development team and created a Windows NT-based data feed server and programming SDK.

From 2001 to 2005, McLewin worked at Thomson Reuters, first as a VP of Architecture and Software Development Project Management, where they implemented architectural changes and oversaw the creation of a system-wide trading symbology cross-reference service. Scott then became VP of API Development, managing teams across different geographical locations and simplifying the company's public APIs.

At Savvis, McLewin served as the Technical Vice President of Software Development, specifying a new CRM system and using XDoclet and Java J2EE for code generation.

From 2006 to 2014, they worked as Principal at Melete Web Solutions, providing information systems consulting services and managing the process from client meetings to delivery.

At Generation Technologies Corporation, McLewin held the roles of Director of Software Development and Director of Operations and Development. Scott established Agile cycles, introduced application lifecycle tools, and deployed Microsoft Dynamics CRM for better tracking of customer interactions. Scott also designed and managed the implementation of an alerting backplane.

Since 2015, McLewin has been at Balance Innovations, initially as a Senior Software Engineer and Development Team Lead for the VeriBalance Desktop product. Scott then became a Store Virtualization Architect, responsible for integrating various hardware systems with software solutions. Currently, they are the Chief Technology Officer, leading LEAN/Agile software development teams and overseeing the IT functions of the division.

Throughout their career, McLewin has demonstrated their expertise in software development, architecture, project management, and driving technological transformations.

Scott McLewin completed their Bachelor's degree in computer science and music from Ramapo College of New Jersey from 1990 to 1994. Additionally, they obtained certifications such as AWS Partner: Accreditation (Technical) from Amazon Web Services (AWS) in September 2022 and AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate from AWS in November 2022. Prior to that, they also obtained the same AWS certification in October 2019.
