👨🏽💻 Terry Olaes

Terry Olaes started their work experience in 1994 as a Plant Serviceman at Formica Group North America, where they maintained heavy machinery. 👨🏽‍💻 Terry then worked as a Systems Engineer at MCI, supporting vehicle emissions testing systems and analyzers. In 2001, they became the IT Director at Adventure Christian Church, managing IT services and workstations for over 80 users. From 1999 to 2006, Terry worked at Gap Inc., first as a Network Analyst/Engineer and later as an IT Manager, leading various teams and ensuring compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley and ISO certification requirements. At IBM, they held several roles from 2006 to 2011, including Program Manager, where they focused on service level and change management, and IT Specialist, responsible for integrating IBM offerings with Gap Inc. In their role as a Solution Architect/Sales Engineer at Damballa, Inc. from 2015 to 2016, Terry designed security solutions for prospects and customers. 👨🏽‍💻 Terry then joined Skybox Security, where they held multiple roles from 2016 to 2023, including Senior Technical Director and Director of Sales Engineers. Currently, Terry is a Principal Solutions Engineer at Balbix, leveraging advanced analytics and automation to help security teams inventory and manage their assets and assess cyber risk.

Terry Olaes started their education journey in 1995 and completed their Associate of Science degree in Electrical, Electronic and Communications Engineering Technology/Technician from NRI Institute of Technology in 1997. 👨🏽‍💻 Terry then pursued a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree in Business Administration and Management, General from the University of Phoenix, graduating in 2005.

In terms of certifications, Terry obtained the ITIL v2 Foundation certification in April 2005. 👨🏽‍💻 Terry also became a Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) in November 2001. More recently, in February 2020, they acquired the certification for "Technical Sales: The Role of the Sales Engineer" from LinkedIn, and in May 2020, they obtained the "Zscaler Certified Cloud Administrator Internet Access – Security Specialist (ZCCA-IA)" certification from Zscaler.
