Ray Ozzie began their career in 1983 as a Software Developer and Development Manager at Lotus Development, where they worked on Lotus 1-2-3 and led a small team to create Lotus Symphony. In 1984, they founded and led Iris Associates, Inc., which created the defining enterprise groupware and email product Lotus Notes. In 1997, they founded and led Groove Networks, which created personally-empowering, secure, mobile, ad hoc, decentralized collaboration software. In 2005, they assumed the role of Chief Software Architect at Microsoft Corporation, where they were responsible for the company's overall technical strategy and product architecture. Ray also led concept development labs charged with creating and nurturing potentially-disruptive advanced development efforts. In 2011, they became a Director at SAFECAST, and in 2012 they were a Director at Electronic Privacy Information Center and Founder and CEO of Talko Inc., which was purchased by Microsoft in 2015. In 2013, they became a Director at Hewlett Packard Enterprise, and in 2016 they became a Director at balena. In 2018, they founded and became CEO of Blues Wireless.
Ray Ozzie attended the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign from 1974 to 1979, where they earned a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science.
