Edward Lopes has extensive work experience in various roles and industries. Edward began their career as a Civil Engineer and Project Manager at Naval Undersea Warfare Center Newport. Edward then served as the Director of Base Operations at Naval Facilities Engineering Command before becoming the Housing Program Manager for Naval Region Northeast. After that, they worked at O'Neill Properties Group as the Senior Vice President for New England Development. In 2012, they joined Balfour Beatty Communities as the Project Director for the Northeast Housing portfolio and eventually became the Vice President for the Balfour Beatty Communities Navy Portfolio. In addition to their work in the private sector, Lopes has served on multiple boards, including Peoples Credit Union, SENEDIA, Portsmouth Planning Board, and Newport County Chamber of Commerce. Edward also ran their own civil engineering consulting practice. Overall, Lopes has a diverse background and a wealth of experience in project management, development, asset management, and board leadership.
Edward Lopes holds an MBA in Business Administration from the University of Rhode Island - College of Business, which they obtained between 1995 and 2000. Additionally, they obtained a Graduate Certificate in Public Management from Indiana University Indianapolis from 1998 to 1999. Edward also has a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Rhode Island. In terms of certifications, they are a Licensed Building Contractor in the State of Rhode Island and a Licensed Real Estate Broker in Rhode Island and Massachusetts. Edward is also a Professional Engineer licensed in Rhode Island, Massachusetts, and Maine.
