Ty McPhillips has a diverse and extensive work experience spanning over several industries. Ty started their career in the US Army in 1987 and served in various leadership roles, including Garrison Commander of Carlisle Barracks and Operations Officer at Battalion and Brigade. Ty also served as the Air and Missile Defense Branch Chief at US Pacific Command. In 2007, they transitioned to the civilian sector and joined Balfour Beatty Communities as a Senior Project Director, overseeing the construction and renovations of hundreds of homes on US Army installations. Ty later became the Regional Project Director for the Air Force portfolio, where they managed over 15,000 homes and oversaw the negotiation and development of large-scale solar projects. In September 2021, they were promoted to the role of VP, Project Management at Balfour Beatty Communities. In addition to their professional career, Ty McPhillips has also volunteered as a community leader.
Ty McPhillips has a strong education background. In 1986, they graduated from West Virginia University with a Bachelor of Applied Science degree in Business/Accounting. In 1997, they earned a Master of Science degree in International Relations from Troy University. Ty has also completed various military education programs, including graduating from The United States Army Command and General Staff College in 1999 with a Graduation Diploma in Military Operational Art and Science, as well as attending The United States Army War College in 2006. In 2003, they attended the Joint Forces Staff College.
