Ben Todd's work experience includes serving as the CEO of Ballard Motive Solutions since May 2010. In this role, they founded Arcola Energy to bridge the gap between clean energy technologies and end-user needs. Ben has also worked as a Fellow at Unreasonable since November 2017, supporting entrepreneurs solving social and environmental challenges. Additionally, they serve as the Chair of Arcola Theatre starting from November 2021. Prior to these roles, Ben was the Managing Director, UK at Horizon Fuel Cell Technologies from March 2010 to March 2015. Ben has also held positions as a Technology Consultant at Fuel Cell Today, Consultant at Johnson Matthey, and Consultant at Synnogy Ltd. Furthermore, they worked as a Technology Scholar at Cambridge Consultants from October 1996 to September 2000.

Ben Todd completed their education in a chronological order. Ben started their academic journey at Pomona College in 1995, where they obtained a 1-year scholarship focusing on Liberal Arts. Afterward, they attended the University of Cambridge from 1996 to 2000, earning an MEng degree in Engineering. Following their undergraduate studies, they pursued a PhD at the University of Cambridge from 2001 to 2005. Their doctoral research focused on the Engineering field, specifically the Modelling of Solid Oxide Fuel Cells for Rolls-Royce.
