Valerie Bonk, JD, MPS is an accomplished on-air news reporter at WTOP News, with experience in voicing, writing, and editing breaking news since January 2020, having joined the organization in April 2016 as a digital reporter. Valerie serves as an adjunct lecturer in the Master's in Journalism program at Georgetown University School of Continuing Studies since August 2021. Extensive experience as a dance teacher, coach, and award-winning choreographer has complemented Valerie's journalistic career, which includes freelance reporting for The Baltimore Sun Media Group and previous roles as a television news anchor and reporter at HMTV6 and WHAG-TV. Valerie's legal background includes positions as a law clerk for the Howard County Office of the Public Defender and an internship at the Court of Special Appeals of Maryland, alongside research assistantship under Professor John D. Bessler at the University of Baltimore School of Law. Valerie holds a Doctor of Law (J.D.) from the University of Baltimore School of Law, a Master’s in Journalism from Georgetown University, and a Bachelor's degree in Journalism from the University of Maryland.
