Dr. James Sadler

Dr. James Sadler is the current Director of Research and Analytics at Baltimore's Promise. Dr. Sadler has dedicated their career to fighting for educational equity and improving outcomes for all students, especially those from underserved communities.

Dr. Sadler began their career as a teacher, teaching physics and math at Mastery Charter Schools from August 2013 to July 2016. Dr. then joined Teach For America as a 2013 Corps Member, serving from June 2013 to June 2015. While with Teach For America, Dr. Sadler had the opportunity to teach in both Philadelphia and Baltimore.

In May 2012, Dr. Sadler interned with the School District of Philadelphia in their Accountability and Assessment department. There, they analyzed data from standardized test scores, survey results, test-monitoring data, and more. Dr. also assessed programs and initiatives implemented by the School District, researched methods of evaluation used across the country, and gained an intimate understanding of the PSSA, AYP Calculations, testing improprieties in Pennsylvania, and collecting/analyzing data on the District and school level.

From July 2016 to June 2020, Dr. Sadler served as a researcher with the Early Learning Network at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. In this role, they worked to improve early childhood education policy and practices in North Carolina.

Dr. Sadler has also served as the Co-Director of PennPals from May 2012 to May 2013, and as an Education Policy Intern with Public Citizens for Children and Youth from May 2011 to April 2012.

Dr. James Sadler completed their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Education - Policy, Leadership, and School Improvement from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Prior to that, they completed their Master's Degree in Secondary Education from the University of Pennsylvania, and their BA in Political Science from the same school.

A direct report to Dr. James Sadler is and Billie Sun - Data Analyst. They work with and Lindsay Johnson - Director of Community Impact. Their manager is Bridget Blount, Chief Impact Officer.
