Justin Loasby has over 30 years experience of international corporate finance. A graduate of Oxford University and the London Business School (M.A. and M.Sc. Econ.), Mr Loasby’s early career was in the City of London, at Morgan Grenfell & Co Ltd and at 3i plc. Over the past 25 years he was responsible for the European Investment Bank’s investment in many countries in Africa (including western, central and southern regions), the Caribbean and Latin America, and the Indian Ocean.
His principal experience is in infrastructure financing (in particular, power and water), mining and natural resource finance, and credit/investment schemes with banks and financial institutions including private equity funds. As Associate Director at EIB, he oversaw the development of policy and investment in different types of financial instrument, including investment in private equity institutions in Africa and the Caribbean, and represented the Bank as shareholder/director in a number of companies, including notably the African Lion Mining Funds and the Aureos Regional African Funds.
From 2011 to 2014 he was Non-Executive Director and Chairman of Kenmare Resources plc, listed on the London Stock Exchange, whose principal activity is the mining of ilmenite in Mozambique. He is currently on the Investment Committee of the AIC Caribbean Fund and the Portland Caribbean Fund II.
