Marcela Villegas has extensive work experience in the financial industry. Marcela began their career as a Monitor Academico at Universidad Externado de Colombia in 2000. From there, they worked as a Market and Liquidity Risk Analyst at Compañia de Profesionales de Bolsa and later became a Junior Corporate Financial Analyst at Analistas Financieros Internacionales in 2003. Marcela then took on the role of Senior Banking Consultant at the same company in 2004, where they provided guidance to Spanish banks and worked on various projects. In 2007, Marcela joined Grupo Bancolombia as the Market and Liquidity Risk Manager before becoming the International Manager and later the Asset Management Specialists Manager. In 2013, they joined Fiduciaria Bogota SA as the Vicepresidente de Riesgo and successfully led several projects, including the development of the ETF Colombia Select. Marcela transitioned to Grupo Aval in 2018 as the Corporate Risk Managing Director, where they managed and monitored various risks at the conglomerate level. Marcela then became the Chief Risk Officer at Banco de la República - Colombia in 2019, where they oversaw the comprehensive risk management model of the bank. Most recently, Marcela joined Boston Consulting Group in 2023 as a Risk Expert, leading projects in financial institutions and risk management. In 2024, they will assume the position of Vicepresidente de Riesgo (CRO) at Banco de Bogotá.
Marcela Villegas has a background in leadership and global business management, with a degree in organizational leadership from the University of California, Berkeley, which they obtained in 2011-2012. Prior to that, they pursued a Master's degree in banking from Afi Escuela in 2003-2004. Marcela'seducational journey began at Universidad Externado de Colombia, where they studied political science and government, specializing in finance, governance, and international relations from 1997 to 2001.
