Mo Parikh is the CEO and Co-Founder at Bandowango. Mo was previously the Co-Founder of the University of Utah bioImmersion Undergraduate Clinical Immersion Program from May 2012 to January 2015. In the summer of 2012, they launched the clinical immersion program named bioImmersion through a 5 year NIH grant that they conceived, wrote, and got funded. The goal of the proposed program is to better prepare bioengineering students as innovators through a medical clinical immersion experience, interdisciplinary collaboration, open ended problem generation, and exposure to user centered design practices. This is accomplished via an intensive summer program where bioengineering students and interdisciplinary design students enrolled in an undergraduate Honors Think Tank research program shadow University Hospital physicians in the clinic. This immersion experience greatly enhances undergraduate bioengineering student’s training by providing a hands-on experience of the realities of clinical medicine. By combining teams of engineering and non-engineering design students, they plan to develop a balanced perspective of user needs and develop requirements for new approaches to improving patient outcomes. Utilizing principles in engineering and empathetic innovation, the proposed clinical immersion program provides students with a design experience where needs in the clinical environment are identified and solutions are proposed all within the necessary regulatory framework.
Mo Parikh is a PhD student in the field of bioengineering and biomedical engineering at the University of Utah. Mo Parikh completed their undergraduate studies in bioengineering and biomedical engineering at Rutgers University, where they earned a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree.
