Founded in 1980 through a special decree issued by the UAE government, Bani Yas Coop has come a long way from its beginnings as an unlisted public limited company more than 40 years ago.
In 1989, to meet with the rapid growth Bani Yas has cultivated through the years, they expanded to a brand new 4,429 square meters space in Baniyas signifying at the time, their largest distribution center to meet the needs of their ever growing consumer base as well embarking into their first step into the retail space with the very first Baniyas Cooperative Society Supermarket. To date Bani Yas Coop is running five supermarkets and retail stores located in Shahama, Mussafah and Mafraq.

In December 20, 2014, Bani Yas Coop formed its investment and property development arm, Al Resala. It is involved in the development and restructuring of properties of Bani Yas Coop such as supermarkets and retail stores located in Baniyas, Shahama, Samha and Mafraq.  This year, Al Resala is set to develop its first community market project in Baniyas after signing the Musataha Agreement with the Department of Municipal Affairs and Transport - Abu Dhabi City Municipality in May 2017. Named as Al Sarab Centre, this project shares the municipality’s vision to establish modern facilities that provides the neighbourhood of Baniyas with diverse shopping and  recreational facilities.
