Christine Lagarde

Director at Bank for International Settlements

Christine Lagarde is the current Director at Bank for International Settlements. Christine has had a long and illustrious career in journalism, starting as a cadet journalist in Melbourne with the Australian Associated Press. Christine then moved to Canberra to cover telecommunications and economics for the AAP before moving to the U.S. to work for Thomson Reuters as a correspondent.

During their time at Thomson Reuters, they were briefly on the economics desk before moving back into reporting. Christine covered trade, including the agreement of the Trans-Pacific Partnership, the IMF and global economic issues. In December 2015, they left Thomson Reuters to take up their current position at the Bank for International Settlements.

Christine Lagarde studied journalism at RMIT University.
