Louis Poirier

Principal Economist at Bank of Canada

Louis Poirier is a seasoned economist currently serving as a Principal Economist at the Bank of Canada since August 2020, after previously holding the role of Senior Economist at the same institution. Prior to this, Louis held the position of Senior Economist at the Department of Finance Canada from August 2018 to August 2020. Louis's earlier experience includes an economist role within the Bank of Canada's International Projection Division, where responsibilities encompassed building global economic forecasts and assessing risks, as well as monitoring U.S. economic data in the U.S. division. Academic contributions include work as a Teaching Assistant and Research Assistant at HEC Montréal between 2012 and 2014, and Louis possesses a Bachelor's degree and a Master's degree in applied economics from HEC Montréal.
