George Tavlas serves as the Alternate to the Governor of the Bank of Greece on the ECB Governing Council and is a member of the Monetary Policy Council, alongside holding the position of Director General at the Bank of Greece since 2008. In academia, George Tavlas is a Distinguished Visiting Fellow at The Hoover Institution, Stanford University, and has been the Editor-in-Chief of the Open Economies Review since 2005. Additional roles include Advisory Board Member for the History of Political Economy, Visiting Professor at the University of Leicester, and past member of the Supervisory Board for the Hellenic Corporation of Assets and Participations. Education includes a Ph.D. and MA in Economics from New York University and a BA in Economics from Babson College.
