Mike Jones

Mike Jones currently serves as the Chief Economist at the Bank of New Zealand, a position held since November 2022. Prior to this, Mike held the role of Senior Economist at ASB Bank from June 2019 to September 2022, where contributions included the development of key publications and leading the Economics team strategy. Previous experience includes positions as Director of Corporate Sales at Westpac Institutional Bank, GM of Treasury Risk Management at Fonterra, and various roles at the Bank of New Zealand, including Manager of Research & Treasury Strategy and Strategist for BNZ Research, where achievements included being rated the top NZD and AUD forecaster by Bloomberg. Mike's career began at the Reserve Bank of New Zealand and included a secondment with the Reserve Bank of Australia. Educational qualifications include a first-class honors degree in Economics from the University of Otago.
