Steve Waterhouse

Steve Waterhouse is an accomplished risk management professional with extensive experience in the financial services sector. Currently serving as the Head of Strategic and Change Risk at the Bank of New Zealand since July 2017, Steve specializes in risk governance, regulatory compliance, and assurance programs. Previous roles include Senior Manager of Enterprise Risk at BNZ, where oversight of Material Risk categories was a key responsibility, and a contractor role focusing on controls assurance for AML/CFT and FMCA in the funds management industry. Prior to BNZ, Steve worked at Westpac New Zealand Limited from 2010 to 2017, holding various senior positions including Head of Operational Risk and Assurance and Head of Internal Audit. Notable earlier roles include leading audit functions at St George Bank and serving as a Senior Audit Manager at EY. Steve holds a Bachelor of Commerce and a Bachelor of Arts in English from The University of Auckland.
