Scott Charbonneau

Chief Financial Officer And Chief Actuary at Bankers Insurance Group, Inc.

Scott Charbonneau has a comprehensive work experience in the insurance industry, starting with their role as an Actuarial Analyst at Allstate from 1984 to 1987. Scott then moved on to Zurich North America, where they worked as an Actuarial Associate from 1987 to 1993.

Following their time at Zurich, Charbonneau joined Interstate Insurance Company, Fireman's Fund, where they served as Chief Actuary from 1993 to 2001. Subsequently, they worked at Kemper Insurance as the VP of Reserving, managing pricing and reserving for International and Specialty Lines, including Asbestos Reserving.

In 2004, Charbonneau formed SUA Insurance Company, a start-up venture, and served as its Chief Actuary until 2010. During this time, they developed the actuarial staff, established systems, and performed various duties as a chief actuary, including board presentations and strategic planning.

From 2010 to 2016, Charbonneau was employed by Markel Corporation as the Managing Director of Markel Insurance Corp. In this role, they oversaw the workers' compensation actuarial function, reserving for Markel Re, and new opportunities initiatives. Scott also managed the reserving function for wholesale and specialty divisions.

Most recently, Charbonneau joined Bankers Financial Corporation in 2016 as their Chief Actuary before being promoted to the positions of Chief Financial Officer and Chief Actuary at Bankers Insurance Group in 2019.

Scott Charbonneau earned their Bachelor of Science degree in Actuarial Science from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in 1982. Scott then pursued further education and obtained an MBA with a concentration in Finance from Northern Illinois University in 1983.
