Abdul Gofur

Abdul Gofur is a seasoned compliance professional with extensive experience in financial crime and regulatory oversight. Currently serving as Director and Head of Financial Crime and Staff Misconduct Compliance at Barclays since June 2023, Abdul oversees compliance incidents and risk mitigation across Europe and the Middle East. Prior to this, Abdul held the position of Director and Head of Global Markets Compliance at HSBC, where leadership involved managing a high-performing team in markets compliance, alongside a tenure as Senior Manager focused on complex financial crime investigations. Abdul's career also includes a role as Lead Associate at the Financial Conduct Authority, supervising senior leadership on conduct risks, and over 17 years as a barrister at Thomas More Chambers and Warwick House Chambers, providing legal advice and representation in financial crime and regulatory matters. Abdul Gofur holds a PhD in Law from UCL, with a focus on rethinking corruption.
