Bhargavi Sunkara serves as the Barclays India CIO and CTO and global head of tech estate management since July 2024. Prior to this role, Sunkara was the Head of Corporate Technology at BNY from October 2018 to August 2024, where responsibilities included leading global teams and transforming Corporate Technology functions. Previous experience includes serving as Vice President & Head of Technology at American Express, where Sunkara built high-performing teams and advanced technology integration, as well as a Manager TPM at Amazon, focusing on next-generation shipment tracking solutions. Sunkara’s career began at Microsoft as a Director, leading various engineering teams. Educational qualifications include a Ph.D. in Computer Science from Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University and a Master of Engineering from Texas A&M University. Sunkara also holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University.
