Michael Sadowski

Associate Dean at Bard College

Working closely with the Dean of the College, the Dean of Inclusive Excellence, and the Center for Faculty and Curricular Development, he coordinates faculty trainings on inclusive teaching practice and related topics; supports program chairs and faculty in working toward program-specific inclusion goals; works with search committees to help ensure inclusive hiring practices; provides resources for faculty to expand the breadth and depth of Bard’s curriculum in areas related to inclusion; and helps organize speaker series and other events intended to bring underrepresented voices to campus. In addition to being Associate Dean, he is a faculty member in the Master of Arts in Teaching and Human Rights programs, an author who has written extensively on youth identity development, LGBTQ+ youth issues, and inclusive teaching, and a writer of fiction and creative nonfiction. His 2021 book Men I've Never Been was shortlisted for the William Faulkner-William Wisdom Award for Nonfiction and was named one of the 100 Best Gay and Lesbian Books of All Time by bookauthority.org.
