Mauricio Renteria BSc, MBA has over 30 years of work experience in various industries, including aviation, manufacturing, construction, and sales.
Mauricio began their career as a Sales Associate at Muebles Bima, where they worked part-time on weekends for five years. Mauricio then worked as a Project Engineer at Sedgman, overseeing the construction and management of a Coal Wash Plant in Colombia.
After that, Mauricio joined Telcom Instrument Services in London as a Project Engineer Assistant, where they were responsible for preparing reports, specifications, plans, and designs for various projects.
Mauricio then worked as a Project Engineer at UT Convicol & Asociados, managing and supervising road maintenance and construction activities.
Mauricio then joined Bombardier, where they held multiple roles over a span of ten years. Mauricio initially worked as a Project Analyst, assessing and developing employee transfer programs and implementing project control reports. Mauricio then transitioned to the role of Project Coordinator/Business Analyst, managing infrastructure projects and preparing annual budget plans. Lastly, they served as the Airline Marketing Sales Manager for the Americas region, responsible for driving sales and marketing strategies.
Currently, Mauricio is employed as the Sales Director Airline Programs for Latin America & Caribbean at Barfield Inc, a subsidiary of Air France Industries KLM E&M group. In this role, they are tasked with increasing market share, managing customer support, and developing new business opportunities. Mauricio travels extensively throughout the assigned territory, strengthening business networks and contributing to the growth of existing customer relationships within the region.
Mauricio Renteria has a diverse education history spanning various fields and institutions. Mauricio pursued their formal education in civil engineering, earning a B.Sc degree from Universidad de La Salle in 1995. Prior to that, they attended Pontificia Universidad Javeriana for their civil engineering studies from 1988 to 1991.
In 1986, Mauricio attended Escuela Naval 'Almirante Padilla', where they completed a program as a Colombian Navy Officer Candidate Cadet, focusing on naval engineering.
Moving on to further develop their skills and knowledge, Mauricio enrolled in various certificate programs and executive education courses. In 1996, they obtained a Diploma in Business Studies from City Business College in London, UK. The following year, they pursued a certificate in Structural Design & Practice from the ISE Institute of Structural Engineers at the University of Westminster.
Mauricio's interests also led him to complete a project management program at Ryerson University in Toronto, Canada, from 2001 to 2004. During this time, they were awarded a Project Management Professional (PMP) certification from the Project Management Institute in 2007.
Enhancing their understanding of negotiation in business settings, Mauricio completed an executive education certificate program called "Negotiation for Success in Business" at the Schulich School of Business - York University in 2008. Mauricio later advanced their negotiation skills by participating in the "Negotiation Mastery: Unlocking Value in the Real World" program at the Harvard Business School in 2018.
In addition to their formal education and certificate programs, Mauricio has also obtained specific certifications. Mauricio achieved the HBX Negotiation Mastery Graduate Certificate from Harvard Business School in April 2018. In February 2007, they obtained the PMP (Project Management Professional) certification from the Project Management Institute.
