Colin Mayger

Partner at Barnett Waddingham

Colin has held a Scheme Actuary certificate since 1996 and is currently appointed to that role by twelve schemes (six of which are in the process of winding-up). The on-going schemes range in size from £10 million to £450 million.

His experience covers a wide range of types and sizes of scheme including defined benefit schemes which include a defined contribution section within the same trust, as well as stand-alone defined contribution schemes (both trust-based and contract-based).

From time to time Colin acts as pensions adviser to sponsoring employers and also to trustees of insured pension arrangements and has in the past also given investment advice to trustees of smaller pension schemes.

Internally, he is a member of the firm’s Staff Committee and externally he has for many years lectured for the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries on the Professional Skills Course that newly- and nearly- qualified Actuaries must attend, speaking both as a pensions specialist and on the topic of financial services regulation.
