Community Art Teacher at Barnsley College

Sarah Heald has a diverse work experience in various roles and companies. Sarah started their career as a Junior Designer in Pat Perkins, where they assisted the Head of Design in childrenswear. Sarah used Photoshop/Illustrator to create CAD designs, managed fabric and garment testing, and also handled pattern cutting. After that, they worked as a Head of Design in Childrenswear, where they were responsible for overseeing the design process. Sarah then moved on to work at Marla Design as a Designer, specializing in vintage-inspired ladieswear and childrenswear. Their designs included tea dresses with modern fabrics, corsetry, and blouses. Sarah then joined Gobo and Sock as a Designer/Seamstress, where they utilized their design and sewing skills. Sarah also worked at Cath Kidston Limited as a Store Visual Merchandiser and Salesperson, where they curated window displays and maintained visual merchandising standards. Their most recent role was at Barnsley College, where they worked as a Community Art Teacher and a Trainee Lecturer in Fashion. In the latter role, they taught design, fashion history, illustration, pattern cutting, and construction. Overall, Sarah has gained experience in design, teaching, and merchandising throughout their career.

Sarah Heald completed a Post Graduate Certificate in Education focused on Teaching in the lifelong learning sector at The University of Huddersfield, with an end date in 2013. Before that, they pursued a BA Hons in Fashion at the University of Hertfordshire from 2006 to 2009. Prior to their undergraduate studies, Sarah attended Barnsley College from 2004 to 2006, where they obtained a National Diploma/AS Level. Their studies at Barnsley College covered subjects in Fashion and clothing, as well as Fine Art at the AS level.
