Leela Sami is an experienced educator with a diverse background in teaching and tutoring across various educational settings. Currently serving as a Multilingual Learner Teacher at Barrington Public Schools since June 2020, Leela previously worked as a 3rd Grade Teacher at Providence Public Schools and as a Student Teacher in a 1st grade classroom at Central Falls School District. Leela's early experience includes tutoring children from refugee families at Dorcas International Institute of Rhode Island and providing administrative support at Families First, Inc. Additionally, Leela has held teaching roles at Brown University and the University of Pune, focusing on diverse subjects including history, sociology, and education. Leela holds a Master of Arts in Elementary Education with a focus on ESL from the University of Rhode Island, a PhD in History of Medicine from UCL, an MPhil in Sociology and Social Medicine from Jawaharlal Nehru Vishvavidyalaya, and a BA in Sociology from the University of Mumbai.
