Iker Marcaide

Iker Marcaide has a diverse work experience in various industries. In 2005, they worked as a Consultant at The Boston Consulting Group (BCG) in London. Iker then joined NUMMI in 2009 as part of an MBA Internship, where they focused on Operations Strategy and Execution. Later that year, they founded peerTransfer (now known as Flywire), a company that aimed to provide a convenient way for individuals and businesses to send money internationally. Iker served as the Founder and Chief Executive Officer until December 2013, and continued as a Board Director until September 2014.

In 2014, after moving back to Spain, Marcaide founded Zubi Labs, which eventually rebranded to Zubi Group. The company focuses on creating companies for a better future and operates in different business units, including education (Imagine Montessori School). Iker also co-founded CoCircular in 2020, a venture that brings the circular economy to the construction industry to prevent construction waste from ending up in landfills. Additionally, Marcaide founded Barrio La pinada in 2017, an innovative eco-district in Paterna, Valencia.

Iker also has involvement in the startup ecosystem. In 2017, Marcaide co-founded and served on the Board of Directors of Asociacion Valenciana de Startups. Iker is a Member of the Board of Trustees of Social Nest since 2015. Overall, Iker Marcaide has a strong entrepreneurial background with a focus on sustainability and creating a positive impact for the future.

Iker Marcaide obtained their Master of Science degree in Industrial Engineering from Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV) between 2000 and 2005. Later, from 2008 to 2010, they completed a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the MIT Sloan School of Management. During the same period, they also pursued a Master of Science degree in Operations Management (LGO Fellow) from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
