Seth Mates has a diverse work experience spanning multiple industries. In 1999, they worked as a Stadium Emcee for the Binghamton Mets. From 2000 to 2002, they joined the World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) as a Writer/Producer, where they crafted storylines, wrote scripts, and produced segments for WWE Raw, WWE SmackDown, and Pay-Per-View events. In 2003, Seth became an Assistant News Editor at the Inland Valley Daily Bulletin, where they helped run a 14-member design and copy desk. In 2004, they moved on to the Times Herald-Record as a Designer, leading key news design projects. In 2005, Seth joined Newsday as an Art Director, where they utilized their expertise in storytelling, design, marketing, analytics, and innovation to lead creative initiatives and manage a team of 11. Finally, in 2022, Seth Mates joined Baseball America as a Creative Director, and later transitioned to the role of Director of Marketing & Design before becoming the Vice President of Design & Strategy in 2023.
