Saif Ur-Rehman, PhD

Saif Ur-Rehman, PhD, has a comprehensive work experience in the field of bioinformatics, data engineering, and cancer informatics. Saif currently holds the position of Data Engineering Team Lead (Bioinformatics) at Basecamp Research since September 2022. Prior to that, they worked as a Senior Data Engineer at Basecamp Research from June 2021 to September 2022.

Before joining Basecamp Research, Saif worked as a Bioinformatician/Scientific Programmer at Engitix Therapeutics from January 2021 to June 2021. Saif also gained valuable experience as a Bioinformatics Specialist at Genomics England from October 2018 to January 2021.

Saif's earlier work includes their role as a Scientific Programmer/Bioinformatician at the European Bioinformatics Institute | EMBL-EBI from June 2013 to October 2018. Saif began their career as a Postdoc in Cancer Informatics at the Institute of Cancer Research from March 2011 to June 2013.

Saif Ur-Rehman, PhD has pursued their education in the field of bioinformatics and computational biology. Saif first attended the University of St Andrews, where they completed an unspecified program. Following that, they enrolled at the University of Cambridge, where they completed courses in NGS data analysis, Python, R, Matlab, and Machine Learning. Saif then obtained a Master of Science (MSc) degree in Bioinformatics from Heriot-Watt University. Lastly, they returned to the University of St Andrews to pursue their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Computational Biology.
