Sergio T Coelho is the CEO and Co-Founder of Baseform. Sergio has over 25 years of experience in civil engineering, water systems analysis and modelling, water quality modelling, systems reliability analysis, and performance evaluation.

Sergio began their career as a Research Associate and PhD candidate at Heriot-Watt University from 1990 to 1996. Sergio then became Head of the Urban Water Division at LNEC (National Civil Engineering Laboratory, Portugal) where they oversaw applied research and development in urban water supply and wastewater systems. During their time at LNEC, Sergio led or was a main contributor to over 70 R&D projects. In recent years, they coordinated the AWARE-P infrastructure asset management planning project; iGPI 2013, a nationwide initiative for IAM plan development involving 15 utilities in Portugal; R&D in the US-based, WERF/USEPA-funded project INFR5R12 - Visual Tool for Supporting Asset Management Performance, Risk and Cost Analysis project; co-managed Work Area 5 of the TRUST EU-FP7 project; and coordinated LNEC's participation in the EU-FP7 iWidget project.

The AWARE-P and iGPI projects were awarded the 2014 IWA Project Innovation Award in the Planning Category (Europe/West Asia) and the 2014 Mulheim Water Award. In 2015, Sergio left LNEC to pursue other opportunities and they eventually became the CEO and Co-Founder of Baseform.

Sergio T Coelho has an Executive Course in International Management Program from MIT Sloan School of Management, a PhD in Civil Eng. Systems from Heriot-Watt University, an MSc in Water Resources Systems Eng. from Newcastle University, and a Certification in Advanced Certificate for Executives in Management, Innovation, and Technology from MIT Sloan Executive Education.
