Elizabeth Pittman, PhD, serves as a Subject Expert Teacher and Subject Coordinator for Middle and High School English at BASIS Independent Schools since January 2018, where responsibilities include teaching advanced literature and composition courses and advising the National Honor Society. Previously, Elizabeth held positions as an Adjunct Professional Lecturer at American University and as a Postdoctoral Fellow, Lecturer, and Assistant Director of the Composition Program at Marymount University, where oversight of peer tutors and writing consultants was a key role. Elizabeth's academic journey includes a PhD in African-American/Black Studies from The George Washington University, a Master's Degree in Literature from the University of Virginia, and a BA in English Literature from the University of Mary Washington.
