Kristen Yates-Matthews has a diverse and extensive work experience. Kristen started their career in 2000 at Monash Health, where they served in various roles such as Health Promotion Practitioner, Executive Officer, and Youth Health Officer. In 2012, they joined Bass Coast Shire Council as Community Planning & Policy and later became the Healthy Communities Initiative Coordinator. In 2018, they became the Executive Officer of the South Coast Primary Care Partnership. Currently, Kristen is the Director of Partnerships and Engagement at Bass Coast Health, a position they have held since 2022.

Kristen Yates-Matthews holds a Master of Public Health (M.P.H.) degree from Deakin University, completed between 2003 and 2006. In 2005, they also completed a course in Social and Community Impact Assessment at the same university. Additionally, they obtained a Postgraduate Diploma in Health Promotion from Deakin University from 2004 to 2005.
