Chris Meyer

CEO & President at Baton Rouge Area Foundation

Chris Meyer is the current CEO and President of the Baton Rouge Area Foundation. Chris has also served as the founder and CEO of New Schools for Baton Rouge from April 2012 to February 2022. In this role, they supported the launch and growth of more than three dozen schools that served over 25,000 students. Chris also raised more than $50 million in direct school launch support and strategy implementation. Prior to their work with New Schools for Baton Rouge, Meyer served as the Deputy Superintendent for the Louisiana Recovery School District from September 2011 to April 2012. Chris also worked as the Special Advisor to the Superintendent and Director of Policy for the Louisiana Department of Education from September 2009 to September 2011. In 2008, Meyer was named a White House Fellow and served in this role until 2009. Chris then went on to serve as a Health Policy Fellow for The Heritage Foundation from May 2008 to September 2008. Meyer began their career as a Greater New Orleans Corps Member for Teach For America from June 2004 to August 2006.

Chris Meyer's educational career includes a Master of Business Administration from the Wharton School, a Master of Public Policy from Harvard Kennedy School, and a B.A. from Tulane University in Political Science, International Relations, and Political Economy.
