David Gertman

Principal Scientist at Idaho National Laboratory

David Gertman, PhD has extensive work experience in the field of human factors and human reliability assessment. David started their career in 1994 as a Manager at Jason Associates, where they were responsible for risk analysis and managing a team of nuclear safety professionals. In 1996, they joined Battelle Energy Alliance - INL as a Principal Human Factors and Human Reliability Scientist, consulting for internal INL programs and federal agencies such as DOE, Department of Homeland Security, NASA, DoD, and NRC. David was also a lead for human factors in advanced transportation simulation, robotics, field studies, and task analysis. During this time, they authored publications and presented at national and international conferences. In the same year, they also held the role of Principal Scientist at Idaho National Laboratory. From 1996 to 2005, they served as a Senior Scientist at Lockheed Martin - Idaho National Laboratory. Throughout their career, they have gained expertise in risk assessment, modeling and simulation, proposal writing, and mentoring.

David Gertman, PhD, earned a B.A. in Psychology with a minor in Microbiology from the University of Maryland Baltimore County. David later pursued graduate studies at The Catholic University of America, where they obtained an MA and a PhD in Human Factors Engineering.
