Laura Nelson

Laura Nelson is an accomplished professional with extensive experience in energy policy, sustainability, and regulatory affairs. Currently serving as Regional Engagement Lead at Idaho National Laboratory since June 2024 and Vice President of Sustainability and Policy at Southwest Gas Corporation since April 2022, Laura has previously held significant positions including Executive Director at Strategen and Energy Advisor in the Utah Governor’s Office of Energy Development. Laura's expertise encompasses strategic energy planning, commercialization of clean technologies, and stakeholder engagement, complemented by a strong academic background with a PhD and BS in Economics from the University of Utah. Notable achievements include managing substantial budgets and leading initiatives to advance clean energy solutions.
