Carl Blaesing Jr.

Carl Blaesing Jr. has a diverse work experience in the fields of research, academia, and military. Carl is currently working as a Principal Research Scientist at Battelle since July 2016. In addition, they hold the position of Adjunct Professor at Midwestern University (AZ) since March 2020.

Prior to these roles, Carl served as an Adjunct Professor at the University of Maryland University College from August 2015 to July 2016. Before transitioning to academia, they had a long career in the US Navy where they held various roles.

From January 2015 to May 2016, Carl served as a Force Health Protection Officer and Budget Control Officer, developing and maintaining programs of Occupational and Environmental Health. Carl conducted studies on environmental health significance and implemented procedures for the well-being of personnel.

In their previous role as Navy Service Lead and Joint Service Preventive Medicine Training Program Instructor from January 2012 to January 2014, they provided education and training support to over 6,000 students annually.

Earlier in their career, Carl worked as a Preventive Medicine Technician and Fleet Marine Force Hospital Corpsman, providing medical services and overseeing health programs for Navy and Marine Corps forces.

Carl Blaesing Jr. has a Master of Public Health (MPH) in Environmental Health from The Ohio State University. Carl also holds a Graduate Certificate in Health Law from Nova Southeastern University, a Master of Science (MS) in Emergency and Disaster Management from Touro University, and a Bachelor of Science (BS) in science from Excelsior University. Additionally, they have obtained several certifications, including Occupational Safety and Health Professional from OSHA, Registered Sanitarian (RS) in the State of Ohio from the Ohio State Board of Sanitarian Registration, Certified Safety and Health Manager (CSHM) from the Institute for Safety and Health Management, and Registered Environmental Health Specialist (REHS) from the National Environmental Health Association. Carl has also completed various courses and trainings in areas such as CBRNE Executive Commander, Cold Weather Medicine/Wilderness Medicine, Command Managed Equal Opportunity Officer (CMEO), Emergency Preparedness Response, Executive Medicine Staff, Maritime Staff Operator, National Incident Management System, Public Health Emergency Management, Public Health Emergency Officer, Public Health Emergency Risk Communication, Research Ethics, and Warm-Zone Operations Training.
