Christine Laney is an accomplished data scientist with extensive experience in ecological and environmental research. Currently serving as Data Scientist III and product owner of the National Ecological Observatory Network (NEON) data portal since January 2015, Laney previously held the role of Postdoctoral Researcher at The University of Texas at El Paso, focusing on automated environmental sensors and innovative information management practices. Prior experience includes coordinating the EcoTrends Project as Research Assistant Professor at New Mexico State University and supporting various projects as a Graduate Assistant. Laney began her career in data management and support roles at Ocean Alliance. Academic qualifications include a PhD in Environmental Science and Engineering from The University of Texas at El Paso, an MS in Biology from New Mexico State University, and dual degrees in Biology and Music from the University of Puget Sound.
