Roberto Porcu is a Senior HPC Software Engineer at Battelle since March 2020, providing consulting services for the U.S. In previous roles, Roberto served as a Postdoctoral Researcher at Berkeley Lab, leading GPU parallelization of MFIX-Exa to enhance carbon capture and storage technologies. At Princeton University, Roberto developed advanced numerical methods for finite element simulations in fracture mechanics, benefiting material failure predictions in various engineering fields. Additional experience includes developing high-order geometric integrators for the European Space Agency during a summer internship and optimizing software for helicopter brownouts during a student internship at Leonardo. Roberto holds a Ph.D. in Mathematical Models and Methods in Engineering from Politecnico di Milano and has an extensive educational background in mathematical engineering.
