Matthew J. Moffitt, P.E., CFM has a diverse work experience. Matthew J. is currently serving as the Natural Resources Board of Directors at Baxter & Woodman Natural Resources, LLC since December 2019. Matthew J. is also the President of the American Public Works Association - Chicago Chapter - Suburban Branch, starting from December 2022.

Previously, Matthew worked at Baxter & Woodman from September 2013, where they served as an Associate Vice President and Water Resources Project Manager until May 2016. Matthew J. also worked as a Trustee at PALATINE RURAL FIRE PROTECTION DISTRICT from August 2017 to June 2022. Matthew has held leadership roles at multiple professional organizations, including being the Past President of the Environmental Water Resource Institute - Chicago Chapter ASCE from October 2018 to October 2019 and the President of ASCE - East Branch of the Central Illinois Section from October 2012 to October 2014.

Before joining Baxter & Woodman, Matthew worked as a Project Civil Engineer at Foth Infrastructure & Environment, LLC from December 2010 to September 2013. Their responsibilities included project coordination, data collection, hydraulic modeling, and streambank inventory. Prior to that, they worked at Alfred Benesch & Company as a Designer II and Construction Representative II, where they were involved in the design, drainage, and construction management of transportation projects.

Matthew began their career as a Civil Engineer at GC Engineering in 2007 before moving to RS&H, where they worked as an Aviation Engineer from June 2006 to March 2007.

Matthew J. Moffitt, P.E., CFM has a diverse education history. Matthew J. obtained their Graduate Certificate in Water Resources Engineering from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in 2012. Prior to that, they received their Bachelor of Science degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering from the same university in 2006. Their educational journey began at Western Illinois University, where they earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Physics in 2003. Matthew completed their high school education at Nauvoo-Colusa Jr./Sr. High School and received their diploma in 2010.

In addition to their formal education, Matthew has also achieved several certifications. Matthew J. became a Certified Floodplain Manager (CFM) through the IAFSM in July 2012. Matthew acquired their Professional Engineer certification from the State of Illinois in November 2010. Additionally, they attained the Certified Professional in Erosion and Sediment Control certification from CPESC in January 2010.
