Dr. Markus Scheerer

Dr. Markus Scheerer is a seasoned professional in the pharmaceutical industry, currently serving as Vice President and Head of Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) in Global Medical Affairs at Bayer Pharmaceuticals since January 2020. Prior to this role, Dr. Scheerer held various positions at AstraZeneca, including Global Medical Affairs Lead and Scientific Advisor/Medical Affairs Manager for Diabetes, from March 2014 to December 2019. Briefly working as a Medical Advisor for Metabolics at Bristol-Myers Squibb in early 2014, Dr. Scheerer also completed a doctoral program at HelmholtzZentrum München from December 2009 to May 2013. Educational credentials include a Master’s degree in Biochemistry and a Bachelor of Applied Science in Biochemistry from Technical University of Munich, along with recent studies at ESCP Business School.
